New Play 'Straight Go' by SUPER TAICHIMON Tackles Societal Issues

The acclaimed theater group SUPER TAICHIMON is set to unveil its latest production, 'Straight Go', from June 18 to 22, 2025, at Ueno Storehouse. This compelling narrative intertwines the lives of a man, who unexpectedly finds himself in a situation he always feared, and a visually impaired girl who challenges his worldview. The play is poised to spark discussions about vital societal issues such as discrimination and compassion.

The protagonist's transformation into someone he never wanted to be follows a fateful accident, leading him to meet a girl who questions, "Why do you have such sad footsteps?" This encounter serves as the catalyst for a journey exploring themes of persecution, attachment, and love. Originally scheduled to debut before the pandemic, 'Straight Go' has now evolved and is ready to take the stage with a broader narrative.

Leading the cast is Yuki Shitamae, a talented actor who has gained recognition not only in film and theater but also as the voice of Homare Katsura from the anime series 'UniteUp!'. He is joined by actress Minori Tominaga, who is currently a contestant in the Miss Magazine 2025 competition, and Sena, an emerging talent in musical theater. Other notable performers from SUPER TAICHIMON include Taichi Nakao, Mai Sakuraba, and several seasoned actors like Riyo Morioka and Daisuke Nagase.

Established in 2021, SUPER TAICHIMON aims to address contemporary social issues through powerful storytelling. The group's founder, Taichi Nakao, alongside actors Mai Sakuraba and Nami Fuji, spearheads projects that engage audiences and provoke thought. Their previous works, such as 'Dream Box', brought attention to pet abandonment and euthanasia, demonstrating the group’s commitment to impactful narratives that resonate beyond the stage.

'Raising awareness is a crucial aspect of our art,' says Nakao. 'We aim not only to entertain but also to instigate curiosity about societal problems, and 'Straight Go' reflects this mission beautifully.' The production runs for a total of eight shows, with tickets priced at 6,500 yen for premium seating, which includes a signed postcard by a cast member, and 5,000 yen for general admission.
