Groundwater Festival in Lakewood: A Community Celebration

On May 2, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM, Lakewood will come alive as the Water Replenishment District (WRD) hosts its 16th Annual Groundwater Festival at its headquarters located at 4040 Paramount Blvd, Lakewood, CA 90746. This beloved festival is free, family-friendly, and dedicated to educating the community about the critical role that groundwater plays in Southern California's water supply.

Why Groundwater Matters

Groundwater is a vital resource, accounting for nearly half of the total water demand in WRD's service area. As California faces ongoing challenges regarding water quality and availability, it is essential for residents to recognize the importance of preserving and protecting this underground treasure. The festival is not just a celebration; it's a call to action for the community to engage with water conservation practices.

What to Expect at the Festival

The event will feature over 30 interactive booths that provide educational materials and giveaways suitable for visitors of all ages. Families can partake in hands-on science demonstrations, water games, live entertainment, delicious food, raffles, face painting, and so much more.
