Logicalis Achieves Carbon Neutrality Target Ahead of Schedule on Path to Net Zero
Logicalis Achieves Carbon Neutrality
In a significant achievement for sustainability, Logicalis, a prominent global technology service provider, has announced it has successfully met its target for carbon neutrality concerning Scope 1 and 2 emissions, ahead of its scheduled timeline for 2025. This accomplishment marks a crucial milestone in the company's determined journey towards achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Logicalis has reported a remarkable reduction in absolute Scope 1 emissions by nearly a quarter (23%) and a 10% decrease in total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since its baseline year of 2022. As a testament to its sustainability efforts, the company has also achieved a 13% year-over-year reduction in total energy use during the fiscal year 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to resource efficiency. Notably, renewable energy sources now account for 22% of total global electricity consumption across its operations.
This milestone is the result of a series of well-planned and executed strategic initiatives designed to combat carbon emissions effectively. Key actions included the transition to renewable energy sources in major operational regions such as Spain, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Portugal, and Australia. By developing and implementing carbon and energy reduction strategies tailored to each country, Logicalis has established a comprehensive approach to sustainability. Additionally, the firm has taken steps to offset remaining emissions with the support of reputable and verified carbon credits.
Bob Bailkoski, CEO of Logicalis, expressed his thoughts on this significant achievement, stating, "At Logicalis, we believe that sustainability must be embedded in everything we do - from how we operate as a business to the solutions we deliver for our customers. Achieving carbon neutrality is a significant milestone and a testament to the dedication of our teams around the world. While there's still much work ahead on our journey to net zero, this accomplishment reinforces our commitment to leading by example and driving positive change across the technology industry."
Looking ahead, Logicalis remains focused on its ambitious goals of powering 100% of its global operations with renewable electricity and reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by the year 2030. Just in the past year, the company accomplished a notable 16% reduction in emissions, alongside a 5% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This emphasizes Logicalis's commitment to making substantial progress in sustainability.
To ensure transparency and accountability in its sustainability commitments, Logicalis launched a Responsible Business Report in 2024, detailing the company’s various sustainability initiatives and tracking its progress toward achieving environmental goals. Nick Zinzan, the Interim Head of Responsible Business at Logicalis, reiterated the company's resolve, stating, "Reaching carbon neutrality is a proud moment for Logicalis, but it's just one step of a much bigger journey. We know that real progress demands continuous action, transparency and accountability, which is why we launched our Responsible Business Report and had our commitments validated and approved by SBTi. Balancing emissions reduction with business growth and the increasing use of carbon-intensive technologies is a challenge, but it's one we fully embrace. Through continued collaboration with our teams, partners, and customers, we're committed to building a more sustainable future."
