Kinetics Begins Construction of High-Capacity FSRU

In a notable stride towards expanding its floating LNG infrastructure portfolio, Kinetics, a Karpowership initiative, has officially commenced construction of its first high-capacity Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), named LNGT Karadeniz. The launch event was marked by a steel-cutting ceremony held at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore, with the unit projected to deliver an impressive regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

This development signifies a crucial phase in Kinetics' strategic push to bolster flexible LNG infrastructure across the globe. The LNGT Karadeniz is equipped with advanced technological features, including low, medium, and high-pressure send-out systems, which will enable Kinetics to cater to a diverse array of LNG import ventures, as well as downstream gas networks. With this project, the company aims to enhance its capability to provide larger, adaptable LNG import solutions designed to improve energy security and diversify sources for nations around the world.

The LNGT Karadeniz stands as the pioneering unit in a series of next-generation FSRUs. This vessel aims to redefine Kinetics' floating LNG asset portfolio, incorporating a high-capacity regasification module, a comprehensive spread mooring system, and sophisticated LNG transfer and cargo handling mechanisms. Additionally, it will be equipped with cutting-edge utilities, electrical distribution, and advanced automation and control technologies, which altogether create a fully integrated floating terminal.
