Highlights of the Exhibition

1. Artistic Resonance of Contrast
Morris and Khan have distinct styles—Morris is known for her bold colors and strong forms, while Khan specializes in introspective works that integrate text and image. Although their styles may seem opposing, they share a dialogue through repetition and a shared sensory experience of color. This exhibition provides a remarkable opportunity to experience how their artistic expressions resonate together.

2. From Loss to Hope: A Shared Journey Through Grief
As a married couple, both artists have confronted profound loss; they experienced a significant tragedy with the miscarriage of their first child. Morris's "Stack" series evokes this sorrow through precariously balanced forms reminiscent of eggs and infants, symbolizing both loss and the fragile nature of life. Khan's work embodies grief through the process of layering repeated words and phrases, visualizing the accumulation of time and memory.

3. The First Exhibition in Japan
Both artists have established significant international reputations. Morris attracted acclaim at Château La Coste in France in 2022, where her works were displayed alongside Louise Bourgeois’s "Maman." Khan has also made his mark, having held exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the K20 Museum in Düsseldorf and the Abu Dhabi government’s memorial monument. Their debut exhibition in Japan promises to offer an insightful look into their artistic journeys and the profound connections within their works.

About the Artists

Annie Morris
Born in London in 1978, Morris studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris and completed her education at the Slade School of Art in London. Her "Stack" series features colorful, irregularly shaped spheres stacked on vertical rods, symbolizing the delicate balance of life.

Idris Khan
Born in Birmingham, UK, in 1978, Khan studied photography at Derby University and obtained his master's degree from the Royal College of Art. His work traverses photography, painting, and sculpture, utilizing repetition to visualize the layering of time and memory. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his contributions to the arts in 2017.

This exhibition serves as a bridge connecting both the artists’ unique practices and the depths of their shared experiences, inviting visitors to reflect on the themes of loss and resilience through their inspiring works.
