NOMAL ART COMPANY Launches Unique Art Project at New Ebisu Office Building

NOMAL ART COMPANY Sparks Creativity at Sreed EBISU +L

NOMAL ART COMPANY, headquartered in Nakano, Tokyo, is embarking on an exciting new endeavor in the heart of Ebisu. Collaborating with Sapporo Real Estate Development's latest project, Sreed EBISU +L, NOMAL has taken a bold step to fuse art and business within a modern office space. Leading this innovative art direction is Mito Hirayama, representing NOMAL ART COMPANY's vision of crafting the ideal environment for inspiration and creativity.

A New Approach to Office Design

Traditionally, art has been introduced in office spaces only after tenants have moved in. This project, however, breaks away from the norm by integrating artwork into the environment before occupancy. The design concept revolves around creating a stimulating atmosphere where ideas can flourish, transforming the office from a mere workspace into a hub for collaboration and growth.

This shift arises from a broader reevaluation of the significance of office spaces in an era dominated by remote work. Companies now seek environments that inspire creativity and spontaneous ideas, emphasizing the importance of in-person interactions. By incorporating artists from the beginning of the office development process, NOMAL ART COMPANY aims to redefine the fundamental value of workspace, promoting a new paradigm for the future of offices.

Bridging Art and Business

NOMAL ART COMPANY envisions a world where artists and business professionals can connect and collaborate. Recognizing that different perspectives can ignite new ideas, the company has formed a project team known as the "Ebisu Art Conference Room by Sreed," which includes participating artists. The aim is to showcase art not merely as decoration, but as a catalyst for creative inspiration within the business context.

As the project progresses, on June 4th, participating artists will conduct a field research study in the Ebisu area, deeply immersing themselves in the local culture and dynamics. This experience will help them connect with the working populace, resulting in insights that will influence their artistic concepts. The goal is to evolve Ebisu into a city renowned for its creative sparks, through unique spatial representations.

Meet the Artists

The project will feature an ensemble of four talented artists, each distinguished by their diverse backgrounds and artistic styles:
  • - Yoko Inoue: An illustrator and collage artist, known for her works in a variety of mediums, including books and commercial art. Yoko's creations add depth and character to various environments, showcasing her unique vision.
  • - Yusei Sagawa: An artist and art director specializing in live painting and murals with an abstract style that merges elements of nature with urban landscapes. His experience includes significant contributions to public art during events like the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
  • - Enna Yamashiro: An illustrator and painter renowned for her line art depicting figures, flora, and fauna. She collaborates with various brands across advertising, fashion, and music, while actively showcasing her original artworks in galleries.
  • - Tomoyuki Washio: An artist who embraces a self-taught background and explores the relationships between street life and art. His interdisciplinary approach allows for cross-genre collaborations, enriching the artistic landscape.

Each of these artists will utilize the insights gathered from their field research and interviews to manifest their concepts visually across large wall canvases within the office space, measuring approximately 3m by 7m.

Project Timeline

The timeline for this innovative project unfolds as follows:
  • - June 4, 2025: Conduct field research in the Ebisu area.
  • - July to October 2025: Organize multiple exchange events with local workers.
  • - November to December 2025: Commence artwork production by the artists.
  • - November 2025: Completion of Sreed EBISU +L, along with the unveiling of the artworks.

The Sreed Series

The Sreed office series, which translates to "germinating workplaces," aims to empower companies, teams, and individuals to grow their business potential. It emphasizes the importance of creativity in design and creates environments that foster safety and community connections. The name Sreed cleverly combines the first letters of “Sapporo Real Estate” with “Seed,” symbolizing growth and collaboration.

With this initiative, NOMAL ART COMPANY is not only enhancing office aesthetics but also enriching the overall workplace culture. They believe that art has the power to spark creativity and foster relationships, ultimately driving business success.
