Experience a Magical Classical Concert for Families Featuring Akutagawa's Works

Mark your calendars for November 7, 2026, as the 21st edition of "Geidai to Asobou in KitatoPia" kicks off in the beautifully designed Sakura Hall at KitatoPia. This year's concert celebrates the 99th anniversary of the renowned author Akutagawa Ryunosuke with a unique musical narrative inspired by his classics, including the evocative tale of "Kumo no Ito" (The Spider's Thread).

Organized by the Kitaku Cultural Promotion Foundation, this concert aims to introduce classical music to younger audiences, ensuring an accessible environment for families. With the concert doors opening at 10:30 AM, attendees can enjoy not only the captivating performances but also the family-friendly amenities available at the venue, including diaper-changing stations and stroller areas.

A Journey Through Akutagawa’s Imaginary World

This enchanting concert showcases the talent of the Tokyo University of the Arts students and alumni orchestra, guiding the audience through a narrative that intertwines music, storytelling, and family-friendly fun.

The storyline unfolds in the prestigious Takino Kouji Academy, where the music teacher, Ms. Koda, leads a team of enthusiastic students in a culturally rich musical production. Inspired by a proposal from the language teacher, Mr. Akutagawa Shinno, related to the famous author, the production draws attention to themes captured in Akutagawa's work. A live interpretation of "Kumo no Ito" will serve as the backdrop for various performances, including classics that appeal to both children and adults.
