Hisense Recognized as First Customer-Centric Lighthouse Factory in Global TV Industry
In an impressive recognition from the World Economic Forum, Hisense Visual Technology in Qingdao has been named the first 'Customer Centricity Lighthouse' in the global television industry. This prestigious title is part of the Global Lighthouse Network, which honors manufacturing sites that leverage advanced digital technologies to enhance customer value, speed to market, and operational performance.
Hisense, a prominent brand in household appliances and consumer electronics, faced significant challenges in the fiercely competitive television market, marked by rapidly changing consumer demands and mounting pricing pressures. In response, the company undertook a comprehensive digital transformation of its operations, integrating artificial intelligence (AI), big data, industrial simulations, and extensive virtual reality (VR) technologies into product research, development, and manufacturing.
As a result of these innovative efforts, Hisense achieved an impressive Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 84%, shortened its research and development cycles by 34%, reduced material costs by 18%, and decreased the training time for new employees by 60%. Furthermore, the timeline from capturing customer needs to translating them into product functionality was cut by 62%. Notably, the manufacturing efficiency for 85-inch televisions improved to a rapid 20-second production cycle.
"At Hisense, smart manufacturing starts with consumer needs," stated Dennys Li, President of Hisense Visual Technology Co., Ltd. “By building a human-centric production system, we are transforming customer insights into real product value with greater speed and precision.”
This milestone marks the third 'Lighthouse' designation Hisense has earned within the Global Lighthouse Network. Previously, the Hisense Hitachi factory in Huangdao was recognized as the world's first sustainability lighthouse in the VRF sector, and it remains the only facility in the industry to hold dual lighthouse status. This highlights Hisense's leadership in sustainable manufacturing utilizing AI.
The 'Customer Centricity Lighthouse' designation represents a critical milestone in Hisense’s digital transformation strategy and human-centric smart manufacturing approach. Founded in 1969, Hisense has established itself as a globally recognized leader in consumer electronics and home appliances, operating in over 160 countries and specializing in high-quality multimedia products, domestic devices, and smart IT solutions. According to Omdia, Hisense is the global leader in the market for televisions larger than 100 inches, a title held since the third quarter of 2023 through the third quarter of 2025.
Continuing its innovation leadership, Hisense remains at the forefront of next-generation RGB MiniLED technology, serving as the original supplier for this cutting-edge product. Additionally, as the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2026TM, Hisense is committed to global sports partnerships to engage audiences worldwide.
This distinction by the World Economic Forum underscores Hisense's relentless pursuit of excellence, not only as a manufacturer but also as a brand focused on consumer satisfaction and sustainable practices in today's rapidly evolving digital landscape.
