AtaCor Medical Begins First Patient Enrollment in the ALARION-EV Trial

This pivotal study is evaluating a new, innovative parasternal extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (EV-ICD) system. Background of the Study



The study operates as a prospective, multi-center, single-arm trial that plans to enroll up to 280 patients across 40 sites primarily located in the United States and the Netherlands. With a targeted follow-up period of at least six months, data collected will support a future premarket approval (PMA) submission.

Traditional ICD systems often necessitate the placement of leads inside the heart, which can lead to numerous complications, such as vascular injuries and device malfunctions. AtaCor’s innovative Atala™ lead is designed to be implanted through a small incision. The lead is positioned through a rib space, allowing electrodes to be placed against the pericardium, avoiding direct contact with the heart and vascular structures.
