Third Meeting of GX Acceleration Research Group
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries is set to host the third session of the "GX Acceleration Research Group in the Agriculture and Food Sector" on December 5, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The primary agenda for this meeting is to promote private investment towards expanding the participation of companies involved in the green transformation (GX) movement.
Background
Since the establishment of the "Green Food System Strategy," notable progress has been made in reducing environmental impact. However, the world experienced its highest average temperature last year, raising concerns about its effects on production levels in Japan, including anticipated challenges from rising temperatures. In this context, the government recognizes the importance of enhancing sustainability within the agriculture and food sectors via the Green Strategy, especially as GX has become a cross-domain challenge.
In alignment with the new "Basic Plan for Food, Agriculture, and Rural Areas," decided by the Cabinet on April 11, 2025, the ministry aims to compile focused initiatives to be implemented intensively through the "Green Acceleration GX Plan" by 2030.
The GX Acceleration Research Group aims to encapsulate the key points necessary to realize the acceleration of the Green Strategy in the food and agricultural sector. This includes identifying the realities on the ground in production and assessing pressing issues while determining appropriate and effective countermeasures.
Future discussions within the research group will include the direction of GX measures, attracting private investments, promoting organic agriculture, and adapting to climate change, among various other critical topics.
