Tokyo Station Hotel Celebrates International Women's Day

Every year on March 8, International Women's Day serves as a reminder of the significant contributions women make across all sectors, including social, economic, cultural, and political domains. On this occasion, the Tokyo Station Hotel, which is celebrating its 110th anniversary, emphasizes its commitment to honoring its historical legacy while evolving to fulfill societal responsibilities in a meaningful way.

The hotel actively promotes the appointment of women in management positions and continually reviews its senior employment system. Furthermore, it advocates for the employment of individuals with disabilities, ensuring a supportive work environment that allows diverse talents to thrive. The establishment focuses on building a sustainable organizational framework enabling employees to maximize their abilities. Part of this growth strategy includes providing regular dialogue opportunities for staff at all levels, complemented by the introduction of flexible working arrangements such as a short-time work system. These adjustments cater to various life stages, crafting an inclusive and adaptable workplace.

Thanks to their ongoing efforts, the hotel has successfully created an environment conducive to returning to work after maternity leave, with 11 staff members having rejoined the workforce since 2020. Upholding traditions while evolving their values for the future is viewed as a pivotal responsibility by the hotel.

To celebrate this year's International Women's Day on March 8, the hotel elegantly adorned its interiors with mimosa flowers, integrating a splash of “happy yellow” into its classic European decor. Mimosa not only symbolizes International Women’s Day but also carries historical significance as a flower given in gratitude to women in various European countries, especially Italy.

On that day, the first 300 guests who visited the hotel received delightful mini bouquets of mimosa as a gesture of appreciation and respect.

Tokyo Station Hotel's Rich History

The Tokyo Station Hotel opened its doors in 1915, situated in the Marunouchi station building of Tokyo Station. With its stunning architecture and state-of-the-art facilities at the time, it has welcomed many prestigious guests both domestically and internationally. Following its designation as an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 2003, the hotel underwent a significant restoration from 2006. It was reborn in 2012 as an urban hotel, featuring 150 rooms inspired by European classic decor, alongside ten restaurants and bars, fitness and spa facilities, and various banquet halls.

Embracing over a century of history, the hotel is defined by its concept of “Classic Luxury,” offering guests a quality experience that transcends time, alongside heartfelt service that resonates with visitors.
