Join the Picasso Art Workshop
The Yokumoku Museum will host a vibrant summer workshop titled
“Picasso de Art: Infuse Life with Your Own Hands!” on
July 27, 2025. This event invites both adults and children to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of Pablo Picasso while nurturing their creative abilities. The workshop aims to foster the participants'
“feeling” and
“creating” skills through the lens of Picasso's artistry.
As part of the ongoing exhibition
“Picasso Ceramics: The Art of ‘Mitate’,” attendees will discover Picasso's techniques through hands-on experiences. Renowned as a master of infusing life into his sculptures, Picasso once remarked about a vase, saying,
“To give life to this, just twist its neck.” This workshop echoes his philosophy, allowing participants to engage with clay and discover their own unique interpretations.

Exhibition Overview
“Picasso Ceramics: The Art of ‘Mitate’”
Ongoing until
December 28, 2025.
This exhibition explores Picasso's experimental engagement with form and reinterpretation, particularly through his ceramic works. By interpreting his methods of creatively reconstituting existing shapes—such as discovering birds in combined pottery forms or likening circular plates to bullfighting arenas—this exhibit encourages a re-examination of the humor inherent in Picasso's vision of
“mitate.” Discover the creative processes that shaped Picasso’s fascination with ceramics and how it resonates within the context of Japanese culture.
