Exciting Frescoball JBG®F Odaiba Cup 2026 with Chakarand's Live Performance!
The Japan Frescoball Association (JFBA) has announced an official collaboration with Chakarand, a popular Okinawa-based Reiwa-style music group, for the upcoming Frescoball JBG®F Odaiba Cup 2026, set to take place on May 3-4. As part of the festivities, Chakarand will also perform live on May 5, promising an electrifying experience for attendees!
Chakarand is known for uplifting the world with their catchy Reiwa music, skillfully blending J-POP and Showa-era melodies to create modern hits. Their infectious tunes have garnered a growing fan base, particularly after their song 'Mongol tsuwn her we?' became a massive hit in Mongolia, amassing over 12 million views across social media platforms. Furthermore, they have produced catchy commercials including the jingle for KFC Mongolia, proving their appeal extends beyond Japanese borders. Locally, their dance, the 'Ai Wata Dance,' has taken off, leading to collaborations with over 100 groups since October of last year — a testament to their vibrant presence in Okinawa’s music scene. Notably, they will grace the main stage of the Odaiba event on May 5, with two performances scheduled: the first from 11:15 to 11:45 AM and the second from 2:30 to 3:00 PM. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to see them live!
The Japan Beach Games® Odaiba 2026 will serve as a symbolic event for the World Beach Games, showcasing the international celebration of beach and marine sports. Following the success of last year's event that drew 38,000 attendees, this year promises another exciting lineup. Planned activities include tournaments for twelve blossoming beach and marine sports, along with 21 hands-on experience sessions, inviting everyone to partake and enjoy.
The JFBA has been an integral part of these festivities since 2018 by organizing official frescoball competitions. This year’s JBG®F Odaiba Cup will not only feature competitive matches on May 3 and 4 but also provide free frescoball experience sessions on May 5. This urban beach setting offers a rare opportunity for aspiring frescoball players to engage with the sport in a lively and inspiring atmosphere.
What is Frescoball?
Frescoball originated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1945 and has since gained popularity in many beach locales around the globe. What sets frescoball apart from other sports is its cooperative nature; rather than competing against one another, two players work together to keep a rally going. Each match lasts five minutes, with players maintaining a distance of seven meters. Often referred to as a 'sport of consideration,' frescoball emphasizes teamwork and camaraderie.
In a significant development, the JFBA has reached a basic agreement to establish the world’s first international organization for frescoball, 'UAFI,' in collaboration with the Rio Frescoball Federation (FEFERJ) aimed at standardizing rules globally. Currently, the JFBA has registered 29 recognized regional clubs and five recognized student associations, helping to foster a vibrant frescoball community across Japan.
