This fantastic opportunity invites residents and visitors interested in sports to try out sports wheelchairs, especially those who have only used standard models or want to experience them over an extended period.

Sports Wheelchair Rental Program Overview

1. Rental Details

Types of Wheelchairs Available

Participants can choose from a range of sports wheelchairs including:

- Track and Field
- Basketball
- Tennis
- Badminton
- Multi-use models for children (various sizes available)

Loan Duration

The standard loan period is up to one month, but extensions can be arranged individually if needed.

Delivery Options

Wheelchairs can be collected from designated locations or delivered to your address.

The rental service is entirely free of charge!

2. Eligibility Criteria

This program is directed towards individuals who meet the following conditions (registration is open regardless of whether you possess a disability certificate):

- Must reside, study, or work in Tokyo.
- Must have a lower limb disability.

Experience Days for Sports Wheelchairs and Prosthetics

Tokyo is also announcing the Sports Prosthesis and Wheelchair Experience Days. Participants will be provided with tailored sports prosthetics and wheelchairs to match their individual needs. Supported by certified prosthetic technicians and para-athletes, attendees will receive one-on-one coaching on how to walk, run, and operate various sports wheelchairs.

1. Event Overview

On the Experience Days, participants will:

- Use specially prepared sports equipment.
- Receive personalized guidance from experienced athletes.

- Session 1: Saturday, August 23, 2026

- Wheelchair: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Prosthetics: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
- Venue: Koganei Special Support School, Koganei City

- Session 2: Sunday, November 30, 2026

- Wheelchair: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Prosthetics: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
- Venue: Kita Special Support School, Kita City

- Hands-on experience in multiple sports to help find the right fit for each athlete
- Consultations regarding training and competitive pathways in the sports world
