Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital Opens in Georgia to Enhance Patient Care and Accessibility

Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital Opens in Georgia

On June 9, 2026, a significant milestone was achieved in healthcare accessibility with the opening of Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital in Loganville, Georgia. This facility marks a collaboration between Encompass Health, the nation’s leading operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, and Piedmont, Georgia's largest healthcare system. The new 40-bed hospital is now accepting patients, aiming to provide advanced rehabilitative care to residents in Gwinnett County and nearby regions.

The Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital is designed to meet the growing demand for specialized rehabilitation services, specifically targeting individuals recovering from serious health events such as strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and complex orthopedic conditions. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the hospital spans over 52,000 square feet and promotes an environment tailored for patient recovery and rehabilitation.

Ronnie Wagley, president of Encompass Health's South Atlantic region, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We’re pleased to once again partner with Piedmont to address the growing need for inpatient rehabilitation care in Georgia. This new, state-of-the-art hospital provides convenient access for residents in Gwinnett County and surrounding areas, allowing them to recover from serious illness or injury closer to home."

The hospital offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program, which includes a minimum of three hours of intensive therapy five days a week. Patients benefit from frequent physician visits, a full-time nursing staff, and a variety of tailored therapeutic activities designed to help them regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Notably, each patient will participate in a treatment plan crafted by an interdisciplinary team of specialists, including highly trained nurses, therapists, and physicians, ensuring that every individual receives customized care focused on their specific recovery goals.

In terms of amenities, the hospital is impressive. It features all-private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym benefiting from the latest rehabilitation technologies, and dedicated spaces for daily living activities. Furthermore, there is an in-house dialysis suite, an inviting therapy courtyard, a dining room, an in-house pharmacy, and comfortable dayroom areas for relaxation and social interaction.

Larry Ebert, CEO of Piedmont Eastside Medical Center, expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort and emphasized the impact of this new hospital on the local community. "We’re grateful for our partnership with Encompass Health, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for helping make this bold vision a reality. Through this partnership, we’re expanding access to our nationally recognized inpatient rehabilitation program for families in Gwinnett and surrounding counties."

The opening of Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital represents Encompass Health's ninth facility in Georgia and their eighth joint venture with Piedmont. The collaborative projects have also led to the establishment of several other rehabilitation hospitals, enhancing healthcare accessibility across various regions in Georgia.

As healthcare continues to evolve, facilities like the Eastside Rehabilitation Hospital stand as pivotal in providing necessary services to those in need.
