Spectee Pro Officially Launched in the Philippines
In an exciting development for disaster risk management, Spectee, a Tokyo-based disaster tech startup, has officially launched the Philippine version of its AI real-time crisis management service, Spectee Pro. The launch ceremony took place at the Novotel Manila Araneta Center in Quezon City and drew the participation of key figures including Mr. Planas, the Undersecretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the Philippines, the Chief Representative of JICA Philippines, and Mr. Yokota, Minister at the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines. Over 100 attendees from governmental entities, local municipalities, media outlets, and technical experts gathered to celebrate this new chapter in disaster risk management in the Philippines.
During the opening speech, Spectee’s founder and CEO Kenjiro Murakami reflected on the company's journey since its inception in 2011, sparked by the Great East Japan Earthquake. He highlighted the evolution of Spectee Pro and its global expansion, stressing that this launch signifies a vital step in introducing cutting-edge Japanese disaster response technology to the Philippines.
Spectee Pro has already been trialed by 120 users across various government agencies and local municipalities in the Philippines. The event showcased case studies from departments such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with Quezon City, Caloocan City, Pasig City, and Lapu-Lapu City. Each case illustrated the service's efficiency in enabling rapid information gathering and informed decision-making during critical times.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the spirited discussion on JICA’s innovative approach to development. The private-sector partnerships that JICA is promoting leverage the exceptional technology and expertise of Japanese private enterprises to tackle social challenges in developing countries while facilitating the international expansion of Japan's private sector. This business-driven collaboration model stands in contrast to traditional government-led ODA (Official Development Assistance) projects, promising to continue delivering sustained societal value.
