High School Students' Journey into Entrepreneurship
In a remarkable initiative, high school students from Seiko Academy in Fukushima are taking their first steps into the world of entrepreneurship with the launch of 'Youth Aroma.' This aromatic product, developed as part of a special educational program, will be unveiled at the DateNoWa Cultural Festival on September 27, 2025.
Collaboration for Innovation
The project is a collaboration between MiraiKuru Lab, Seiko Academy High School, and Hidane LLC, all of which share a commitment to empowering young students. The students, part of the school's exploration course, have engaged in a series of business processes, from concept to product development, working closely with local artisans and businesses to create an aroma that embodies the essence of youth.
The Aroma Product
The 'Youth Aroma' project brings together local raw materials, reflecting the rich resources of Fukushima. The students collaborated with a local craft gin company, Kokage, to design the essential oil blend. With elements drawn from lemongrass, clary sage, cypress, and distilled peach seed extract from Date City, the final product aims to evoke the feelings of summer festivities and youthful exuberance.
Learning Through Experience
Over the course of 13 classes, the students have been heavily involved in every facet of product creation: conducting market research, learning about the art of blending scents, developing their product prototype, and finally preparing for the event at the festival. On the day of the festival, participants will have the opportunity to experience the aroma firsthand and provide feedback via a survey, which will be instrumental in refining the product before its official commercialization.
Engaging the Community
In addition to the aroma presentation, the students will host a workshop where festival-goers can create their own aroma sprays, encouraging community involvement and nurturing a love for creativity in participants. This hands-on experience allows attendees to engage directly with the product's development.
Future Plans for 'Youth Aroma'
The journey does not end with the festival. Following the event, the students plan to initiate a crowdfunding campaign on September 25, 2025, aimed at bringing 'Youth Aroma' to market. Supporters of the campaign can expect unique rewards, including products handcrafted by local artisans, thereby fostering a deeper connection between the community and its resources.
MiraiKuru Lab, an educational venture established to foster entrepreneurship among young people, emphasizes the project’s broader purpose: to teach students the value of perseverance and the appeal of tackling challenges. The funds raised through crowdfunding will play a crucial role in channeling resources back into the community and supporting the students’ future endeavors.
