Integris Composites Secures Major Ballistic Protection Contract for Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyer

Integris Composites and the UK Royal Navy

Integris Composites, a prominent player in the field of armor protection, has struck a significant deal to provide advanced ballistic protection systems for the Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyer. This notable contract was announced during the prestigious Sea-Air-Space 2025 Conference held at the National Resort Convention Center in Maryland, USA, which runs until April 9. Integris is showcasing its innovative solutions at Booth 247, reflecting its robust presence in the defense industry.

The announcement comes as a testament to Integris's 30-year legacy as a trustworthy partner for top defense contractors. David Cordova, the Chief Commercial Officer of Integris Composites' U.S. division, emphasized that this contract not only reinforces the company's commitment to providing high-quality solutions but also enhances their longstanding partnership with BAE Systems, a pivotal player in the realm of defense technology.

The collaboration aims to leverage cutting-edge technological advancements, ensuring that Type 45 vessels will be equipped with superior ballistic defense mechanisms. The initial order was confirmed back in October 2024, marking a leap forward for the integration of advanced protective measures into the Royal Navy’s fleet.

A History of Partnerships and Innovation

“This project is a clear indication of our commitment to delivering top-tier defense solutions,” stated Steve Wilde, the Sales Manager for Integris in the UK. His comments highlight the strategic importance of maintaining robust relationships with leading defense contractors such as BAE Systems. This contract is part of a series of major wins for Integris, illustrating the company's capacity to provide survivability protection to critical defense systems globally.

In fact, prior to this major award from the Royal Navy, Integris had already been selected as the armor systems supplier for the U.S. Army’s Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program, showcasing their growing footprint in military defense contracts.

Cordova draws attention to the designation of Tier One supplier credentials that Integris Composites has achieved with aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and prime defense contractors worldwide. He mentioned that besides the FLRAA contract, Integris is also supplying armor for the MH 139 Grey Wolf with Boeing, further solidifying its reputation in the industry.

The significance of such contracts cannot be understated; they reflect not only the trust that leading defense companies have in Integris's capabilities but also the innovative edge they bring to the market. Cordova believes this is only the beginning, stating, “With a legacy of innovation and a commitment to meeting the changing needs of the defense industry, Integris Composites stands ready for continued growth and success.”

Looking Forward: Commitment to Innovation

As Integris Composites continues to explore new materials and engineering innovations, they remain committed to delivering robust solutions that ensure safety and survivability for their clients' critical assets. This contract with the Royal Navy represents more than just a business opportunity; it’s a mission to create effective and reliable defense systems in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Integris has a rich history of producing composite armor for land vehicles, aircraft, naval vessels, and even personal protection gear for military personnel worldwide. Historically known as TenCate Advanced Armor until its rebranding in 2023, the company has earned a reputable standing by focusing on inventive survivability solutions tailored to meet a variety of defense needs.

This latest achievement not only showcases Integris's prowess but also reiterates the essential role of innovation in the defense sector. The partnership with BAE Systems sets the tone for future collaborations, emphasizing the synergy of expertise that will benefit both companies and ultimately bolster global military defense efforts.
