Hotel Metropolitan Unveils Original Wines to Enhance Dining Experience

Discover the Exclusive Original Wines of Hotel Metropolitan

As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Hotel Metropolitan is proud to present a selection of original wines designed to elevate the dining experience across its exquisite restaurant and bar venues. Starting July 16, 2026, guests can savor these wines made from locally sourced grapes, crafted with care to bring out the best of Nagano's rich terroir.

The Wineries of Nagano

Nagano Prefecture is known for its beautiful landscapes and quality produce, making it an excellent location for viticulture. The hotel has selected two flagship wines, each showcasing unique grape varieties from the region. "Nagano Rouge" features a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, creating a smooth, medium-bodied red wine that is sure to impress. On the other hand, the "Nagano Blanc," made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, promises a delightful tasting experience with its bright and fruity character.

Nagano Rouge: A Delightful Red

The Nagano Rouge is crafted primarily from Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, aged in oak barrels to enhance complexity. This exquisite red wine greets the palate with a velvety texture, followed by flavors of ripe berries, dark cherries, and a subtle hint of spice. The blend hints at a small proportion of wild mountain grapes, adding a unique twist and depth to every sip. Its well-balanced composition makes it an ideal companion for roasted meats, particularly those seasoned with herbs.

Nagano Blanc: A Refreshing White

In contrast, the Nagano Blanc offers a refreshing experience, reflecting the characteristics of 100% Chardonnay grapes. The wine undergoes approximately 10 months of aging in French oak barrels, imparting a luxurious oak aroma alongside citrus and floral notes. Its vibrant lemon-yellow appearance captivates the eye, while the palate is greeted with a smooth mouthfeel and crisp acidity, allowing for a prolonged elegant finish. This white wine complements both French cuisine and traditional Japanese dishes elegantly.

Available at multiple locations within the hotel, these wines can be enjoyed alongside a variety of cuisines including Italian, French, Japanese, and Chinese. Each restaurant and bar has curated a menu that pairs perfectly with the wines, ensuring an unforgettable dining experience.
