FP Co. and Sunbelx Announce Eco-Store Collaboration for Sustainability

FP Co. and Sunbelx Unite for a Greener Future

In a groundbreaking move for sustainability, FP Co. and Sunbelx have joined forces to introduce the "Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration." This initiative aims to foster a more sustainable circular economy in urban areas of Tokyo, Chiba, and Saitama, where Sunbelx operates its network of supermarkets known as 'Berukusu.'

The Commitment Behind the Declaration

FP Co., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is a leading manufacturer of food packaging solutions, and Sunbelx, based in Adachi, Tokyo, focuses on specialized supermarket operations. Together, these companies are committed to significantly reducing environmental impact through a series of concrete actions outlined in the new declaration.

As part of ongoing efforts to decrease their ecological footprint, Sunbelx already has systems in place for the collection of used food trays and PET bottles at their stores. In fact, the amount of collected food trays reached 46 tons and PET bottles hit 75 tons by February 2026. Beyond collection, they also incorporate eco-products made from these materials into their stores, contributing to a significant reduction of 565 tons of CO2 emissions in the same period.

Strengthening Existing Efforts with New Initiatives

With the launch of the Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration, FP Co. and Sunbelx are set to implement two pivotal initiatives.

1. Centralizing Tray Collection: Starting June 1, 2026, all used food trays collected from Sunbelx stores will be sent exclusively to FP Co. for recycling. This streamlined approach will convert the collected trays into eco-friendly products that will be utilized back in Sunbelx stores, effectively creating a 'Store-to-Store' recycling system.

2. Switching to Eco Trays: From July 1, 2026, the supermarkets will replace all general-purpose trays with 'Eco Trays' manufactured from recycled materials. This expansion of eco-product usage is expected to significantly enhance their CO2 reduction efforts.

A Call to Action for the Community

Both FP Co. and Sunbelx believe that these initiatives will not only help them transition towards a more sustainable future but will also engage and involve the local community in the collective effort toward resource circulation. Through this partnership, they hope to inspire other businesses and consumers to take action for a sustainable society.

The companies have galvanized efforts to create awareness about the importance of recycling and sustainable practices among their customers. Together, they work tirelessly to ensure that the impact of their actions resonates beyond their stores, encouraging a cultural shift toward sustainability within the community.

Conclusion

As consumers become increasingly eco-conscious, initiatives like the Eco-Store Collaboration Declaration set the foundation for a more sustainable retail environment. FP Co. and Sunbelx stand at the forefront of this movement, paving the way for innovations in recycling and environmental responsibility in the food retail sector. Their combined efforts exemplify the positive outcomes achievable when businesses collaborate to address pressing environmental issues. This partnership not only reflects their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint but also illustrates a progressive approach to sustainable enterprise that prioritizes ecological integrity and community involvement.
