Maria Fareri Children's Hospital Achieves Milestone National Ranking
Maria Fareri Children's Hospital Receives National Recognition
For the very first time, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, part of WMCHealth, has received national recognition from U.S. News & World Report, marking a significant achievement in pediatric healthcare. This acknowledgment comes as the hospital has been ranked among the best in the country for pediatric cancer care for the year 2025-2026.
In addition to its national accolade, the hospital has also been honored as the seventh-best children's hospital in the state of New York and ranked sixteenth in the Mid-Atlantic region. These distinctions underscore the hospital's commitment to providing top-tier, compassionate care to its young patients.
This recognition follows the hospital's designation by the American College of Surgeons, which has named it a National Pediatric Center of Excellence—an esteemed title that only three children's hospitals nationwide share. Further cementing its innovative stance in pediatric care, Maria Fareri Children's Hospital was also recently awarded a substantial grant of $459,333 through the Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program, aimed at improving treatment protocols for Hodgkin's lymphoma, specifically in children and adolescents.
David Lubarsky, MD, MBA, the President and CEO of WMCHealth, commented, "For our patients and families, being named one of the Top 50 children's hospitals in the nation for pediatric cancer care is a powerful affirmation that world-class care is available right here in the Hudson Valley. This recognition reflects the extraordinary commitment of our healthcare professionals, who dedicate themselves to delivering advanced treatments with compassion daily."
Dr. Erika S. Berman Rosenzweig, the William Russell McCurdy Physician-in-Chief and Director of the Department of Pediatrics at Maria Fareri, stated, "This national recognition highlights the excellence of our pediatric oncology program and the hope it evokes for families throughout the region. Our team's commitment to advanced therapies, clinical trials, and supportive care showcases our dedication to providing each child the best chance at a healthy future."
Dr. Mitchell S. Cairo, the Chief of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Stem Cell Transplantation, expressed his pride in the hospital's program: "U.S. News & World Report's Top 50 ranking is well deserved and recognizes the tireless dedication of everyone involved in the pediatric cancer program at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital. We remain focused on advancing innovative and compassionate cancer care for children."
The pediatric hematology/oncology specialists at Maria Fareri excel in diagnosing and treating various childhood cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma.
