RAD Technology Medical Systems and Belimed Launch Innovative FlexSPD Installation

In a groundbreaking development for healthcare facilities, RAD Technology Medical Systems (RAD) and Belimed Inc. have successfully completed the installation of their first FlexSPD (Flexible Sterile Processing Department). This innovative solution was installed for the Defense Health Agency, part of the United States Department of Defense, highlighting a collaborative effort to enhance sterilization capacity in medical environments where it's critically needed.

The FlexSPD brings a unique approach to sterilization, functioning as a primary processing department or providing interim services during renovations. In an impressive feat, RAD and Belimed managed to install the FlexSPD in just 16 hours, ensuring it was fully operational within five weeks. This timeline is particularly crucial as it allows hospitals undergoing renovations to maintain their sterilization capabilities without compromising on safety and service, enabling ongoing processing of surgical and medical instruments.

This collaboration merges RAD’s expertise in modular facilities with Belimed’s advanced sterilization technology, creating a state-of-the-art facility measuring 24 by 37 feet. Within this compact structure, healthcare providers will find a fully equipped sterile processing solution that includes large-capacity Washer-Disinfectors, Sterilizers, an Ultrasonic Washer, and dedicated Prep and Pack Workstations. Such a setup not only meets but aims to exceed modern healthcare requirements.

"The completion of our first FlexSPD installation underlines our dedication to delivering flexible, high-quality medical solutions," expressed Kenneth Wright, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at RAD. He emphasized the importance of this project in showcasing the strengths of their partnership with Belimed and how it addresses the urgent demands of hospitals and surgical centers for reliable sterile processing amid upgrades and expansions.

Dustin Dzwonkowski, Co-President and Chief Commercial Officer at Belimed, echoed this sentiment, recognizing that the FlexSPD has emerged from extensive collaboration. He believes that their combined experience sets them apart from temporary or modular solutions available in the market today. Their goal is to continuously advance new concepts and technologies catering to evolving customer needs while challenging traditional methods common in healthcare settings.

The Defense Health Agency specifically selected FlexSPD as a temporary sterilization unit, reflecting a growing trend in healthcare for adaptable, top-quality solutions to assist facilities during renovations and expansion projects. With the first unit now fully deployed and functioning, RAD and Belimed are positioning themselves to respond to the rising demand for efficient and scalable sterile processing options nationwide.

This partnership and the successful rollout of the FlexSPD may potentially reshape the future of sterile processing in various healthcare settings, offering more flexibility and efficiency during times of crisis or transition. It serves as a robust model of innovation that could inspire similar initiatives within the healthcare industry.
