Huawei Launches AI-Centric 5.5G Solutions to Ignite Mobile AI Era

Huawei Unveils AI-Centric 5.5G Solutions at MWC Barcelona 2025

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona 2025, Huawei showcased its latest innovations in mobile technology with the launch of AI-centric 5.5G solutions. The event featured a presentation by Cao Ming, Huawei's Vice President and President of Huawei Wireless Solution, who detailed the transformative impact of AI on mobile networks.

Cao emphasized that mobile AI is on the rise, bringing forth three significant transformations in the mobile network landscape, particularly in user experience, operation and maintenance (O&M), and business models. He stated, "Mobile AI is driving various changes in networks and offering operators new opportunities to enhance application experiences."

Three Key Transformations

1. User Experience Evolution

The first major transformation lies in the user experience, which is expanding beyond traditional human-to-human interactions. The advent of AI opens pathways for human-to-AI and AI-to-AI communications. This shift necessitates diverse capabilities, such as increased uplink capacity to support multimodal AI interactions, lower latency for real-time agent chats, and seamless cellular coverage to facilitate ubiquitous AI accessibility.

2. Network O&M Advances

The second transformation addresses O&M, moving from L3 autonomous networks (AN) to L4 and beyond. The expected growth in AI traffic will significantly increase power consumption across devices, networks, and cloud infrastructures, highlighting the need for high-level network autonomy to boost productivity as network complexities rise.

3. Business Model Shifts

Lastly, business models are evolving from traffic-based monetization to multi-faceted monetization strategies. With the increasing popularity of AI applications, operators are encouraged to pivot from mere traffic monetization to experience-centric models, setting the stage for monetization based on value.

Huawei's 5.5G AI-Centric Solutions

To navigate these transformations, Huawei introduced several products under its 5.5G AI-centric solutions portfolio, including GigaGear, GreenPulse, and GainLeap. These innovations aim to improve user experiences, enhance productivity, and open new business opportunities for network operators.

  • - GigaGear focuses on intention-driven resource collaboration across time, frequency, space, and power domains, ensuring agile scheduling within networks tailored to various users and scenarios. This capability allows AI applications to deliver diverse and adaptable experiences across different contexts.

  • - GreenPulse utilizes intention-based automation to maximize spectral and energy efficiency. This solution features multi-agent collaboration for precise energy-saving operations, ensuring an effective “0 Bit, 0 Watt, 0 Loss” strategy. It provides a high level of network autonomy aiming for “0 Touch, 0 Wait, 0 Fault.”

  • - GainLeap empowers operators to pursue experience-driven monetization. It utilizes the RISE (Radio Access Network Intelligent Services Engine) to enable on-demand service orchestration and open network capabilities. By aligning software and hardware within the radio access network, it facilitates various user experiences, ensuring operators can meet diverse demands.

A Promise for Future Innovations

Cao concluded his presentation by stating that these AI-centric 5.5G innovations are just the beginning. He assured attendees that Huawei will continue to innovate alongside partners to develop further solutions that meet the evolving demands of mobile AI.

As Huawei steps boldly into the future of telecommunications with these advancements, the company positions itself as a key player in shaping the next generation of mobile connectivity. The integration of AI into network operations underscores a commitment to enhancing user experiences and operational efficiencies across the globe.
