UESHIMA MUSEUM's Exclusive After-Hours Tour
UESHIMA MUSEUM, located in the vibrant heart of Tokyo, is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Art Basel and Airbnb to launch Japan's first-ever Airbnb Original Experience. This exclusive initiative allows art enthusiasts to engage with contemporary art in a more intimate and serene environment after normal operating hours. Scheduled for its inaugural tour on
November 7, 2025, this event promises to be a unique opportunity for a limited number of participants to explore a carefully curated selection of artworks under expert guidance.
A Unique Collaboration
This tour is part of a larger global initiative by Art Basel, with UESHIMA MUSEUM being the first museum in Japan to participate. The program will run across five global cities, including New York, Mexico City, Paris, and Los Angeles, thus positioning UESHIMA as a key player on the international art scene. By partnering with Airbnb, the museum aims to create a new kind of art experience that prioritizes depth and personal engagement.
Guided by an Expert
The experience will be led by
Yuko Hasegawa, a highly respected curator and educator in the art world. Hasegawa is currently a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Business Administration, Kyoto University, and a Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University of the Arts. With an impressive career spanning many prestigious institutions and exhibitions, she will provide a personal insight into the current exhibition, titled “Thematic Exhibitions for Creative Encounters.” Participants will have the chance to appreciate the collection and understand the stories behind the artworks from Hasegawa's expert perspective.
An Intimate Setting
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the artworks in the tranquil ambiance of the museum after it has closed to the public for the day. This unique setting allows for a different kind of dialogue with the pieces on display, away from the hustle and bustle typically associated with museum visits. It creates an ideal environment for contemplation and appreciation of contemporary art.
How to Join
For those interested in being part of this exclusive experience, reservations are essential and can be made through the Airbnb platform. An Airbnb account is required but setting one up is free of charge. Detailed information and booking options can be found on the official Airbnb website:
