Team from Tamurakoma Engages in River Cleanup Activities in Nobeoka City
On August 31, 2025, a team of 18 employees from Tamurakoma Inc., led by Asahira, participated in a significant cleanup initiative at the "Miracle Clear Stream Oigawa" in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture. This event aimed not only to enhance local environmental conservation but also to contribute to regional revitalization as part of their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Background of the Cleanup Activity
The collaboration for this event stemmed from Tamurakoma's outdoor gear brand, FOLBOT, utilizing the corporate hometown tax system to donate products related to water activities, such as kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, to Nobeoka City. Each year, on the eve of the Ayu fishing season opening—August 31—the local government and members from the non-profit organization, Himuka Kando Experience World, have been conducting river cleanups alongside enjoying the breathtaking views with recreational river rafting.
This year, Tamurakoma was honored to join this worthy cause alongside the local community.
Engagement in the Cleanup and Community Interaction
Safety was a priority for the participants, who donned life jackets and helmets before embarking on their river adventures on SUP boards. With most of the employees being beginners, they received comprehensive assistance from the Himuka Kando Experience World's staff.
The river, renowned for its outstanding transparency, allowed attendees to admire the beauty of the environment, where tiny fish could easily be seen swimming freely. Glorious weather complemented the experience, with a brilliant blue sky above and the lush greenery of the mountains framing the day.
During their rafting journey, the group made a pit-stop at a designated barbecue site to conduct their cleanup efforts. Although the riverside appeared relatively clean at first glance, they were surprised to collect a significant amount of litter, including cans and cigarette butts. This eye-opening experience heightened participants' awareness of environmental conservation and prompted several individuals to dive underwater to retrieve hidden cans, showcasing their commitment to the initiative.
At the end of the river journey, they also enjoyed warm interactions with local children at a submerging bridge, sharing love for nature by jumping into the river together, further strengthening community bonds.
Acknowledgments and Future Aspirations
Tamurakoma wishes to express sincere gratitude to Nobeoka City's officials and the Himuka Kando Experience World for their generous hospitality and support throughout the event. Feedback from participants highlighted the importance of deepening their understanding of the local community and reinforced the value of teamwork among colleagues. Statements echoed sentiments of recognizing the crucial role of sustainability in regional enrichment.
This river cleanup has reinforced Tamurakoma's dedication to maintain strong connections with local regions. The company is committed to advancing its contributions to community-oriented activities and sustainability plans. Recognizing its corporate role in realizing a sustainable society, Tamurakoma is keen on integrating social contribution efforts alongside its business operations.
