Collaboration with Shiraf Water
This year, the official water for the event is
Shiraf, a natural mineral water sourced from the mountains of Japan. The name ‘Shiraf’ resonates in Japanese as it relates to being sober, promoting a stylish non-alcoholic drink option for attendees looking to enjoy their cosplay experience without the inclusion of alcohol.
Shiraf embodies the essence of Japan's esteemed ‘soft water’ and will appeal to global visitors interested in Japan's unique beverages. This partnership aims to promote the Shiraf brand while embracing the festival’s spirits, reinforcing the cultural message of community and sustainability that lies at the heart of the WCS.
New Engagement Initiative: Like Cards
To enhance interactions during the event, WCS is introducing
“Like Cards,” a unique communication tool fostering connections among cosplayers and fans. Participants can write messages on these cards and exchange them, breaking down barriers to conversation and encouraging a friendly atmosphere. This initiative aims to create memorable encounters, making it easier for both veteran and new attendees to engage with one another.
A Shift to Autumn: Future Plans
Looking ahead, WCS has announced a significant change in the event schedule. Starting from
2027, the summit will be held in
autumn to mitigate challenges posed by Japan's extreme summer heat. The upcoming event is planned for
November 12 to 14, 2027, providing a more comfortable environment for both participants and spectators.
This shift not only prioritizes the safety of everyone involved but also offers a greater variety of attire options for cosplayers, enriching their festival experience. The milder autumn climate is expected to draw even more participants from around the world.
