Exploring Taiwan's Hand-Drip Teas at SCAJ 2025
Taiwan is set to captivate tea enthusiasts with its first-ever showcase of hand-drip teas at the Specialty Coffee Association of Japan (SCAJ) 2025. Taking place from September 24th to 27th at Tokyo Big Sight, this event promises an extraordinary exploration of Taiwan's premium tea products. Leading this initiative are distinguished figures such as Cai Jinlong, head of the Taipei branch of the Agricultural and Water Conservation Bureau, and Wang Qingyao, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office’s Agricultural Division.
A Unique Collaboration
The event brings together three renowned brands: Rootopia, Taozhuo Fang, and EIGHTeeN. Collectively, they will showcase a total of 16 exquisite Taiwanese teas, allowing visitors to delve into the rich tradition and culture behind hand-drip tea. The teas will be brewed using various equipment, including the HARIO SWITCH dripper, siphon, AeroPress, and the Hiroia Hikaru V60, creating a lively, immersive experience for participants.

- - September 24 (Wed): A demonstration of Taiwanese tea extraction with champion barista Chiemi Sakata and coffee roaster Yang Linxian, featuring siphon brewing.
- - September 25 (Thu): Discussion on Japanese-Taiwanese specialty coffee beans led by 2019 JCRC third-place winner, Yoshihiro Munemoto.
- - September 26 (Fri): Insights into specialty coffee and Taiwanese hand-drip teas with champion Daisuke Hatakeyama from JBrC.
- - September 27 (Sat): A demonstration of tea extraction and cupping techniques with 2023 JCTC champion, Akemi Mori.
