Partnership Announcement
ASIOT Co., Ltd., a company specializing in AIoT-based remote metering services, has recently entered into a sales agency agreement with ADOC International, a firm dedicated to ICT engineering and digital transformation (DX) support for public facilities. This partnership is expected to significantly enhance the digitalization of infrastructure management for various municipalities and public facilities across Japan.
Background and Purpose of the Agreement
In Japan, many municipal institutions and school facilities still rely heavily on traditional analog meters, which require manual readings. This conventional method is increasingly burdensome due to staffing shortages and the logistical challenges faced by on-site personnel. For instance, schools are frequently experiencing water wastage from pools due to forgotten shutoffs, highlighting an urgent need for DX in facility management.
ADOC International offers ICT solutions tailored for public facilities, focusing on transforming water meters with their remote metering service, “RemoEyes.” This service covers everything from surveys and installations to operational improvements.
On the other hand, ASIOT’s product, “A Smart,” provides an edge AI-powered automatic metering service that retrofits existing analog meters like electricity, gas, and water, as well as industrial gauges (pressure and temperature meters) with attachment systems. This setup allows for the intelligent reading of measurement data via AI from images taken by cameras, leading to rapid IoT integration without costly infrastructure alterations or service interruptions.
Through this agreement, ADOC will become the authorized sales agent for “A Smart,” enhancing proposals, introductions, and operational support to municipalities and public facilities. ADOC’s depth of understanding in operational settings and their regional networks are expected to spur the social implementation of “A Smart” significantly.
Furthermore, ASIOT anticipates that collaborating with ADOC will bolster their proposal capabilities and after-sales support, enabling smoother deployments across various regions and facilities.
Both companies are committed to leveraging their respective strengths to advance digital transformation in the metering operations of public infrastructure sectors.
Comments from Leadership
Mr. Tsuneharu Kobayashi, CEO of ADOC International commented:
“We are pleased to announce our agency agreement with ASIOT for the sale of the edge AI-powered automatic metering service ‘A Smart,’ which enables IoT integration via a retrofitting approach. Recently, ADOC has focused on supporting administrative services for public facilities and local governments, particularly recognizing the future potential of smart water meters. We aim to promote the implementation of our DX solution, ‘RemoEyes,’ and actively engage in enhancing the efficiency of water metering operations and improving user services through ‘A Smart.’”
Mr. Yohei Mikami, President of ASIOT, expressed:
“It is an honor to partner with ADOC International, which possesses significant experience and expertise in public infrastructure. Our agency agreement will serve to further advance the DX of Japan’s water infrastructure. ‘A Smart’ allows for centralized management of remote monitoring, anomaly detection, and alert notifications through smartphones and PCs, making it broadly applicable for stakeholders from field workers to municipal staff. Together with ADOC, we will support the establishment of sustainable management systems in public facilities, particularly within school environments, and vigorously promote the overall DX of water operations.”
Overview of ‘A Smart’
“A Smart” is ASIOT's cutting-edge automatic metering service that retrofits diverse types of analog meters via an attachment method. Its primary strengths lie in the attachment approach and edge AI technology. Traditionally, smartening meters necessitates the replacement of existing units, leading to increased costs and extended timelines due to device changes or installation work. In contrast, “A Smart” can easily be attached to various existing meters, whether for water, electricity, gas, or analog gauges, installing in just a few minutes without the need for construction work. Additionally, its edge AI capability processes acquired data on the device itself before sending it to the cloud, which reduces communication overhead and lowers power consumption.
Benefits of ‘A Smart’ Implementation
- - Enables remote readings without the need for site visits.
- - Compatible with various meters including electricity, gas, water, and industrial gauges.
- - Affordable pricing with subscription fees starting in the hundreds of yen per month.
- - Users can conduct their own installations thanks to provided attachment techniques.
- - Displays images alongside text data, ensuring higher reliability.
- - The battery-operated units boast long lifespans, eliminating the need for expensive digital meter replacements or electrical wiring.
- - Enhanced monitoring frequency allows for better leak detection and anomaly recognition.
- - Potential for over 90% reductions in time, labor, and costs associated with meter management.
- - Facilitates the visualization of energy consumption, allowing effective execution of PDCA cycles.
