On February 19, Carnival's leaders, including CEO Josh Weinstein and President Christine Duffy, took a significant step forward in this exciting journey by visiting the construction site. This behind-the-scenes tour showcased the final phases of development leading up to the official grand opening scheduled for July 19, 2025. As they marked milestones in the construction process, the leaders also emphasized Carnival's commitment to sustainability and community engagement.

A Destination of Five Portals

Celebration Key will present five themed portals that reflect the beauty and heritage of the Bahamas. The centerpiece, the towering Suncastle, stands ten stories high and serves as the gateway to the experience ahead. The Suncastle features racing waterslides, making it a thrill-seeker’s paradise, while also being at the heart of family-friendly recreation.

1. Paradise Plaza

The first encounter for guests at Celebration Key begins at Paradise Plaza, designed to welcome visitors and lead them into the heart of the destination’s offerings. This area will be buzzing with activity, food options, and entertainment.

2. Calypso Lagoon

For those seeking a more adult-oriented experience, Calypso Lagoon features a designated area that includes a DJ island and a magnificent swim-up bar, ensuring relaxation and enjoyment for adult guests.

3. Pearl Cove Beach Club

This exclusive adults-only area promises a premium experience with luxurious beachfront cabanas, an infinity pool, and top-tier service. Booking options will soon be available for those looking to secure their relaxation spot at Pearl Cove.

4. Lokono Cove

Celebrating the artistic culture of the Bahamas, Lokono Cove is an artisan retail village, offering visitors the chance to buy handmade goods and local artwork, allowing guests to take a piece of Bahamian culture home with them.

5. Starfish Lagoon

For families and water enthusiasts, Starfish Lagoon offers an array of activities in a vibrant aquatic setting designed for all ages. Families will find countless recreational activities along with areas dedicated to relaxation.

The Road to Completion

With approximately 500 workers tirelessly on-site every day, the construction process is moving forward at a rapid pace. Duffy highlighted Carnival’s collaboration with local companies, stating that 28 Bahamian businesses have contributed to the construction of Celebration Key. This not only boosts the local economy but ensures that the destination is intertwined with the culture and people of the Bahamas.

As part of its sustainability plans, Carnival has also initiated a community engagement program called ‘Plant a Tree’, which entails the replanting of thousands of native trees across the property. Notably, about 1,000 sabal palms have been saved and integrated into the landscape of Celebration Key.

To enhance the water experience, Carnival will fill two expansive freshwater lagoons, the largest in the Caribbean, powered by a unique desalination system converting seawater to fresh water. With a combined capacity of holding around seven million gallons, these lagoons will provide guests with enjoyable swimming experiences.

Looking Ahead

As the countdown continues, Carnival Cruise Line is excited about the new opportunities Celebration Key will provide to its guests. Sailings featuring this new destination are currently available into 2027, with multiple itineraries planned across 20 ships from ten U.S. homeports.
