HCCA's Upcoming Compliance Institute Features Notable Speakers from CMS and Legal Experts

Upcoming Compliance Institute by HCCA

The Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) is gearing up for its most anticipated event of the year, the 29th Annual Compliance Institute (CI), set to take place from April 28 to May 1, 2025, in Las Vegas. This premier conference will feature a remarkable lineup of general session speakers, including influential figures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and notable compliance and legal experts.

Keynote Sessions Overview

Leading the discussions will be Kimberly Brandt, the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Administrator of CMS. Her opening session, titled “CMS Update,” scheduled for April 29, presents a unique opportunity for attendees to gain insights directly from a high-ranking official about the current administration's priorities and directions regarding healthcare compliance. This session is particularly valuable for professionals keen on understanding the evolving landscape of healthcare regulations and policies.

Following Brandt's address, on April 30, Lynn Sessions, a Partner at Baker Hostetler LLP and a specialist in healthcare privacy and compliance, will host a session entitled “What You Should Change Following the Change Healthcare Incident: Lessons Learned and Strategies to Consider.” This session promises to delve into significant learnings stemming from the largest breach of medical data in U.S. history, informing compliance professionals on strategies to mitigate future risks and enhance security protocols.

Moreover, the afternoon of April 30 will feature a panel discussion titled “The State of New York vs. The National Rifle Association: Lessons in Nonprofit Compliance and Governance.” This critical session will be led by:
  • - Daniel Roach, Interim CEO of SCCE HCCA, who brings four decades of compliance experience.
  • - James Sheehan, Chief of the Charities Bureau of the Office of the Attorney General of New York, which oversees compliance for over 90,000 nonprofits in the state.
  • - Emily Stern, Chief of the Enforcement Section of the same bureau, who has been pivotal in various groundbreaking enforcement matters.

Comprehensive Conference Experience

The Compliance Institute serves as HCCA's largest annual assembly for healthcare compliance professionals, offering unparalleled educational opportunities, networking, and access to progressive program strategies tailored for diverse segments within the healthcare industry. This year, participants can choose from over 100 educational sessions, engage in face-to-face interactions with exhibitors, and maximize networking prospects with peers across the field.

For those unable to attend in person, a virtual attendance option will be available, commencing on April 29. Almost 50 sessions will be live-streamed directly from the conference venue, ensuring wider access to essential knowledge and expert insights.
