Discover Kumamon's Work Mode at WHG Hotels: A Special Collaboration Room Experience

A Special Experience with Kumamon at WHG Hotels

Kumamon, the lovable mascot of Kumamoto Prefecture, is stepping out of the shadows of his regional charm to engage guests at WHG Hotels. This exciting collaboration marks the first of its kind between WHG Hotels, which include Washington Hotels and Hotel Gracery, and Kumamon, and it runs from May 18 to June 30, 2026, across 28 locations nationwide.

Collaboration Room: Kumamon's Special Suite

At the heart of this initiative is the “Kumamoto Prefectural Sales Manager’s Special Room,” available at three key locations: Tokyo, Osaka, and Sendai. Designed to reflect Kumamon’s professional life while he travels to promote the beauty of his home region, this limited-time room offers a glimpse into his daily adventures. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a giant Kumamon plushie, standing nearly three feet tall, alongside a chalkboard wall filled with to-do lists that exclaim, “Promote Kumamoto!” in his characteristic enthusiastic style.

This room is designed to be not just a place to stay but a unique experience that allows guests to peek into Kumamon's work mode. Visitors can discover exclusive items including a limited-edition charm, coasters, Kumamon face masks, tourism pamphlets, and breakfast—all designed to enhance their stay.

Breakfast Fair: A Taste of Kumamoto

A highlight of the collaboration is the breakfast fair titled, “Kumamon's Hospitality: A Taste of Kumamoto,” which showcases local ingredients and dishes from Kumamoto. WHG Hotels, known for their motto, “Wake up wanting breakfast,” will feature over 40 handcrafted dishes that rotate with the seasons. Expect to indulge in colorful salads made with juicy Kumamoto tomatoes infused with Aso basil dressing, bite-sized spicy lotus root balls, and the beloved “Genki Natto,” a perfect breakfast for a nutrient boost.

Each participating WHG Hotels location will bring a taste of Kumamoto to their breakfast menus, ensuring that every visitor can enjoy a taste of the region’s culinary offerings, even if they can't physically travel there.

A Message from Governor Kimura

Governor Takashi Kimura of Kumamoto Prefecture expresses his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “I am thrilled that WHG Hotels and Kumamon have joined forces. Not only do we have the Kumamon rooms debuting in Tokyo, Osaka, and Sendai, but we are also offering breakfast menus filled with Kumamoto's rich flavors. I hope that domestic and international visitors will fully experience the charm of Kumamoto Prefecture, 'the Food Capital,’ and consider visiting Kumamoto.”
