Experience the Timeless Appeal of Aged Sake at the Unique Golden Week Event

A Unique Golden Week Event: Aged Sake Ice Cream

This May, a special event is set to take place at the SAKEICE shop in Tokyo, aimed at introducing the younger generation to the charm of aged sake, known as koshu. Running from May 1st to May 3rd, the event is titled "Heisei Born Sake Transformed into Ice Cream" and promises an exciting experience for young sake enthusiasts. Takumi Sousei, a company based in Awaji City, Hyogo, is organizing this event in collaboration with SAKEICE, a renowned ice cream specialty store.

At this event, visitors will have the opportunity to indulge in original ice creams crafted using koshu from the Heisei era, specifically the Koshu no Bishu 1990 and Koshu no Bishu GOLD. These aged sakes have been meticulously selected for their unique characteristics and flavors, perfect for integrating into a delightful ice cream experience.

The Importance of Engaging the Youth

Japan's sake market has been experiencing a decline due to changing consumer preferences and population decrease. Younger generations, in particular, are drinking less and moving away from traditional sake. Takumi Sousei recognizes the need to revitalize interest in the culture of sake among young adults by presenting new, exciting ways to enjoy it. Through this event, the company hopes to create a unique experience that combines the nostalgic feel of the Heisei era with the refreshing taste of ice cream.

The shop’s decor will reflect the Heisei Retro aesthetic, with design elements inspired by the 1990s and early 2000s. Attendees can expect a vibrant atmosphere replete with memorabilia from that era, providing a perfect backdrop for both enjoyment and social media moments.

Special Offers and Experiential Activities

The ice cream menu will feature the following offerings:
  • - Original Aged Sake Ice Cream (includes a limited edition sticker)
- Single: ¥1,200 / Double: ¥1,700 (tax included)

For those who follow the official Koshu no Bishu LINE account or the Instagram page, there is a 50% discount available, making the single serving just ¥650 and the double ¥850. Additionally, customers born in the same year as the aged sakes used in the ice cream (1990, 1999, or 2000) will receive a complimentary glass of the same sake used in their ice cream.

Understanding the Unique Flavors

  • - Koshu no Bishu 1990: This ginjo sake offers a clean and refined taste that harmonizes beautifully with the creaminess of ice cream, allowing the complexity of the aged sake to shine while remaining light and enjoyable.

  • - Koshu no Bishu GOLD (1999 & 2000): Crafted from a blend of aged sakes from 1999 to 2010, this flagship product delivers a rich and luxurious flavor profile, enhanced by the full-bodied creaminess of the ice cream.

A Family-Friendly Experience

This event aims to educate and engage attendees of all ages, though it is important to note that alcoholic products will only be available to those aged 20 and above. Guests will be required to present identification to verify their age when enjoying the sake compliment.
