Guidance on Tax Return Preparation for Individual Business Owners by ARMS Accounting

On December 19, 2025, ARMS Accounting Corporation, led by certified public accountant and tax advisor Masaki Ohta, participated as a speaker at a seminar organized by the Mukojima Blue Declaration Association. The event focused on providing practical guidance on income tax returns tailored specifically for individual entrepreneurs who do not have an advisory tax accountant.

This seminar is part of a program initiated by the National Tax Agency that aims to support bookkeeping using accounting software. Out of a total of five sessions, the final lecture featured a tax accountant facilitating a more hands-on approach to tax returns. Prior sessions were conducted by the Blue Declaration Association, but this final session was designed to deliver practical and detailed solutions for tax-related concerns.

Participants, mainly individual business owners not affiliated with the Blue Declaration Association, learned primarily about using e-Tax for filing their tax returns. The session included explanations of basic e-Tax operations, important considerations during data entry, ways to find information when in doubt, and how to make use of publicly available documents issued by the National Tax Agency. The objective was to clarify common issues encountered in practical tax filing processes.

Moreover, the seminar also highlighted the increasing relevance of AI tools in tax-related tasks. Attendees were introduced to the potential efficiency gains achievable through appropriate usage of AI in tax processes, ultimately leading to reduced costs associated with bookkeeping and filing. This section went beyond merely presenting tools; it included practical insights on when and how to deploy these resources effectively in their work processes.

Feedback from participants indicated that they found the seminar beneficial, with comments such as, “I could grasp the overall picture of e-Tax,” and, “I gained a clear understanding of the mindset required for data entry, which previously made me anxious.” The seminar provided attendees with valuable knowledge to better navigate their own tax return processes autonomously.
