Valmet Concludes Change Negotiations in Finland and Sweden

Valmet, a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies for various industries, announced the completion of change negotiations relating to its new operating model in Finland and Sweden. This important strategic shift aims to enhance the company’s service to customers through a lifecycle approach while also improving operational efficiency.

As of March 31, 2025, Valmet revealed plans to modernize its operational framework, which is set to be fully implemented by July 1, 2025. This initiative reflects Valmet’s commitment to adapt its strategies to better align with customer needs in an ever-evolving market.

The negotiations, which wrapped up recently, will result in the reduction of 325 positions in Finland and 108 positions in Sweden, primarily affecting white-collar jobs. Valmet currently employs about 6,600 individuals in Finland and approximately 1,700 in Sweden. The company is also engaged in similar negotiations across other countries, and further information regarding those impacts will be shared as developments occur.

Furthermore, outside of the newly finalized negotiations, Valmet will start additional discussions in Finland concerning the Paper business line, specifically the Board and Paper Mills business unit. These discussions will address temporary layoffs lasting fewer than 90 days that may affect around 1,100 employees due to decreased workloads and a pressing need to enhance profitability.
