The Concept Behind Mochitto Pasta
The term "Mochitto" translates to a chewy, bouncy texture in Japanese, and this new pasta series has been carefully crafted to retain its elasticity throughout the meal. FamilyMart has revamped its pasta production by adjusting the grain size of the wheat flour used. The result is a noodle that is not only fun to chew but also pairs perfectly with a variety of sauces. The pasta features a width of 1.6 mm, allowing for a delightful mouthfeel that stands out in the convenience store market.
The first offering of the series is the
Egg and Cheese Tomato Pasta, developed under the guidance of renowned chef
Tsunetaka Ochiai, who has been a staple of Italian dining in Tokyo for over 25 years with his acclaimed restaurant,
LA BETTOLA da Ochiai. This dish goes beyond ordinary pasta with its unique sauce made from a blend of four types of tomatoes, fresh basil, and miso, all topped off with a variety of cheeses for a rich and complex flavor. Chef Ochiai has cited this dish as a true representation of authentic Italian cuisine, making it a must-try item in the series.
In addition, FamilyMart is excited to introduce the
FamilyMart Carbonara, known for its creamy, flavorful sauce containing egg and cheese, making it new to the lineup. It is designed to deliver a luxurious taste experience in a convenient format.

The second phase of the Mochitto Pasta launch will include additional offerings hitting the shelves on December 9, 2025. This installment features two new flavors: the
FamilyMart Meat Sauce, which combines rich tomato flavor with the depth of demi-glace sauce, and the
Peperoncino Egg, a bold twist on a classic pasta dish that delivers a harmonious balance of flavors through the use of consomme and flavorful broth.
