Exploring New Horizons for Costa Rican Food Products at SIAL Paris 2026

From October 17-21, 2026, the vibrant SIAL Paris fair is hosting over 8,000 exhibitors and 295,000 industry professionals from across the globe. Among them are 18 Costa Rican companies, along with the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Costa Rica, known as PROCOMER. This initiative aims to unveil a diverse array of Costa Rican food products ranging from dried fruits to frozen foods, sauces, and canned goods to international buyers.

SIAL Paris serves as a dynamic platform that allows these Costa Rican exhibitors to connect with potential clients and partners while showcasing their unique offerings to a broad audience. According to recent reports, the Costa Rican food industry's exports have reached $1.938 billion from January to August 2026, marking an impressive 8% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth highlights the rising demand for Costa Rican products in international markets.

The CEO of PROCOMER, Laura López, emphasized the need for innovation to tap into new market potentials. She stated, "To enhance our presence in international markets, converting product innovations into high-value export items that meet changing consumer needs is crucial. We are committed to linking our innovation capabilities with business opportunities, and SIAL Paris is pivotal in presenting our unique products to global buyers."

At the essential COSTA RICA booth, attendees will experience how local ingredients such as pineapple, bananas, cassava, and plantains can be transformed into various food products. Some of the featured items include frozen and dried fruits, precooked cassava, tostones, flours, spicy sauces, fish conserves, juices, fruit purees, coffee, cocoa, and bottled coconut water.

Throughout the five-day event, Costa Rican businesses will engage in numerous meetings with prospective buyers, fostering connections and discussing their products. Culinary demonstrations led by chefs and baristas will further highlight the diverse applications of Costa Rican ingredients, allowing buyers to experience first-hand the quality and versatility of these offerings. These cooking shows, paired with tastings, not only educate buyers but also enhance ongoing business discussions.

In addition to establishing new connections, SIAL Paris also enables Costa Rican companies to reconnect with existing buyers and explore trends that impact the global food market. The direct interactions at the exhibition provide valuable insights that can aid businesses in fine-tuning their strategies and tailoring product developments to meet specific market demands. This aligns seamlessly with PROCOMER's mission of amplifying the international footprint of the Costa Rican food industry.

Overall, the participation of PROCOMER and 18 Costa Rican companies at SIAL Paris 2026 underscores a significant step toward enhancing the reach and recognition of Costa Rican food products in Europe. As they showcase their innovations and engage with buyers, they contribute to the ongoing narrative of Costa Rica as a burgeoning hub of culinary excellence and sustainability in the food sector. The event is not only a celebration of Costa Rican cuisine but also a strategic initiative to carve a niche in the highly competitive global food market.
