AD Works Group Celebrates the Completion of Its First Storage Facility in Mie Prefecture

AD Works Group Unveils Its Pioneering Energy Storage Facility

On January 27, 2026, AD Works Group, a subsidiary of the Tokyo-based AD Works Company, celebrated the grand opening of its first energy storage facility, 'ADW Mie Matsusaka Storage Facility.' This event marks a significant milestone in the company's commitment to advancing renewable energy (renowned as 'reden') and stabilizing power supply across the region.

Background of the Project

With the growing urgency to transition from fossil fuels to electric power, the demand for energy has sharply increased. Contributing to this shift, the Japanese government has set an ambitious target to increase the share of renewable energy to over 40% by 2040. Addressing the challenges posed by the intermittent nature of renewable energy generation is essential for ensuring supply stability. AD Works has taken proactive steps since 2025 to develop energy storage solutions, viewing them as a socially responsible and economically viable new business opportunity. The ADW Mie Matsusaka Storage Facility marks the first of what is to be many such installations.

Innovative Development Approach

Utilizing small-scale high-voltage equipment, the facility has been designed for rapid development, ensuring a swift response to the increasing energy demands. AD Works will acquire land and invest in storage facilities to operate stored power in wholesale electricity markets. The facility will trade electricity, managed by Digital Grid Co., a leading aggregator in the sector, optimizing both the operations and the financial returns from stored energy. All developments from this past year fall below the 2,000 kW threshold, facilitating a quicker and more efficient construction process.

Looking Ahead

As ADW Matsusaka prepares for operations, an extensive testing phase will commence, with full system integration planned for March 2026. In addition to this facility, AD Works is determined to pursue aggressive land acquisitions, with plans to add up to seven new sites within the year.
