Datamaran Appoints Marlies Gevaert as New Chief Commercial Officer to Lead Growth Strategy
Datamaran Appoints Marlies Gevaert as Chief Commercial Officer
Datamaran, a provider of AI-driven risk and governance software, recently announced the appointment of Marlies Gevaert as its Chief Commercial Officer. Based out of Valencia, Gevaert will lead one of two newly established Go-to-Market (GTM) teams. This transition is a strategic part of Datamaran's broader initiative to pivot towards a more customer-centric, segment-based operational model aimed at enhancing its focus on rapidly growing market segments.
As the Chief Commercial Officer, Gevaert will collaborate closely with centers of excellence focusing on customer success, enablement, and business development to transform current momentum into commercial achievements. With over 16 years of experience at the intersection of regulation and revenue, Gevaert brings a wealth of expertise to her new role.
Prior to joining Datamaran, Gevaert served at Greenomy, where she led commercial activities for over four years. Her role positioned her as the country manager for the Benelux market, where she was instrumental in expanding the company's commercial footprint. Before her tenure at Greenomy, she spent almost six years at EDICOM, a leading SaaS provider for electronic invoicing and VAT compliance, where she established its first sales team in the Benelux region. Gevaert’s early career involved significant roles related to sustainability policy and industry regulation, including as an EU policy advisor and coordinator in the European Parliament, along with policy consultancy for international economy at the Flemish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her entry into Datamaran comes at a pivotal moment, coinciding with a shift towards a segment-oriented pod structure. “Marlies has built a career on both sides of the table—working in EU policy making and in commercial sectors where regulation translates into business value,” said Nick Geurds, Chief Revenue Officer at Datamaran. “This unique combination is exactly what our clients need right now: someone who understands the pressures they face and knows how to build a team to address those challenges.”
In her own words, Gevaert expressed her commitment to transforming ESG and compliance from burdens into genuine business value. She stated, “Datamaran's AI-driven governance approach perfectly aligns with my mission to empower businesses to view regulatory frameworks as opportunities rather than obstacles. The regulatory landscape is continually evolving, and companies require partners who can keep pace with these changes. I am excited to build upon this foundation.”
With Gevaert at the helm of commercial strategy, Datamaran appears poised to enhance its market position and continue its mission of offering innovative governance solutions tailored to the needs of its clients. As the company develops its focus on fast-growing segments, Gevaert's leadership is particularly crucial in driving forward an agenda that combines compliance with impactful business outcomes.
