Empowering Youth Through Internships in Cebu Island for Social Change

Crepity's U-GAKU Internship Program in Cebu

In the summer of 2026, Crepity will host a unique internship program in Cebu, Philippines, under the banner of U-GAKU. Set to run from August 9th to August 20th, this initiative targets high school and university students with a focus on developing practical business skills while addressing pressing social issues in the region.

Background and Purpose of the Program

In our fast-changing world, merely relying on online information is inadequate; hands-on experiences and exposure to first-hand information are essential. The U-GAKU internship is designed not just as a language-learning opportunity or sightseeing experience, but as a means for participants to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This experience allows students to engage with the realities of life in the Philippines—understanding the challenges faced by communities, their values, and aspirations.

The program aims to transcend traditional educational boundaries, creating a fundamental experience that can shape participants’ lives and careers far beyond the classroom.

Program Structure

The internship is built around three primary pillars:

1. Business Planning Project

Over ten days, participants will tackle real social issues by devising viable business solutions. Through fieldwork in slums and orphanages, students will conduct market research to identify challenges. They will refine their proposals under the guidance of experienced mentors—entrepreneurs and professionals—culminating in a presentation to local business leaders for practical feedback.

2. Integration of Language and Practice

Emphasizing the importance of practical language skills, participants will engage in experiential learning rather than traditional classroom environments. Small group lessons will focus on vocabulary and presentation skills, supplemented by on-site English interviews in local markets. This immersive approach will cultivate communication skills and initiative among the interns.

3. Cross-Cultural Understanding and Relaxation

Participants will deepen their cultural understanding through unique experiences only Cebu can offer. Activities like shark watching and island hopping will also foster strong relationships among participants.
