Samsung Introduces New Buyback Service
Samsung Electronics Japan has recently launched a new service on its online store: the
Samsung Buyback Service. This initiative allows customers to sell their used Samsung Galaxy devices through the official online platform without the need to purchase new products. The service aims to enhance the market value of Samsung Galaxy devices while contributing to a circular economy and promoting eco-friendly practices.
Overview of the Samsung Buyback Service
The Samsung Buyback Service enables customers to trade in their Galaxy devices for
Samsung Credits, which can be redeemed for future purchases on the Samsung Online Shop (
Samsung Website). To utilize this program, customers simply need to visit the buyback service page, check the reference prices for their devices, and apply for the program. After applying, they will receive a collection kit to send their products back to Samsung.
Once the devices are received, they are evaluated and classified into four grades: A Grade, B Grade, C Grade, or Recycle, depending on their condition. The corresponding amount will then be credited to the customer's Samsung account as
Samsung Credits, which can be used on their next purchase from the Samsung online store. It’s important to note that eligible products for this buyback program include certain models of Samsung Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches, and not all models may be eligible. Additionally, overseas models are excluded from the program.
The collection and assessment of used products will be managed by Samsung's partner company,
Likewize Japan. This partnership ensures that the process is handled efficiently and sustainably, aligning with Samsung's commitment to environmental responsibility.
Updates to the Samsung Trade-In Service
Samsung has also updated its existing
Samsung Trade-In Service, making it easier for customers to save money when purchasing new Galaxy devices. By allowing customers to reimburse trade-in values directly through their payment methods at the time of purchase, it has become significantly more convenient for individuals looking to upgrade their devices. Customers interested in this service can find more details on the Samsung Trade-In page (
Trade-in Service).
What Are Samsung Credits?
Samsung Credits are digital vouchers earned through participation in the buyback service, transferable directly to purchases made within the Samsung online store. Customers can use these credits for purchasing any products listed on the site, starting from as little as 1 yen. However, these credits cannot be used for shopping outside the Samsung online store, nor can they be transferred or redeemed for cash. The validity of Samsung Credits extends for five years from the date of acquisition, allowing customers ample time to utilize their incentives.
In conclusion, Samsung's new buyback program and enhancements to its trade-in service represent a significant step towards a greener future while providing customers with more avenues to save and engage with their products.
