Freed-Hardeman University Achieves Record Enrollment
Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) has announced an impressive milestone as its Fall 2025 enrollment figures reach an all-time high. With 2,349 students, the university has surpassed last year's enrollment of 2,305 and set a new benchmark compared to the previous record of 2,325. This upward trend in enrollment signals a robust growth trajectory for the university, reinforcing its commitment to providing quality education and extensive support to its students.
Growth Across Various Programs
The notable increase in enrollment is not just limited to overall student numbers. FHU has experienced a significant boost in its graduate program, with a phenomenal 14% increase, welcoming 62 additional students, marking a four-year peak for the institution. This surge reflects a growing interest among students to pursue higher education, particularly in environments that foster both academic and personal growth.
Furthermore, FHU has posted a six-year graduation rate of 71%, well above the national average of 61% for private institutions. This statistic is a testament to the effectiveness of FHU's educational programs and the dedication of its faculty and administration to seeing students succeed. The undergraduate retention rate also remains strong, at an impressive 87%, indicating that students find value and satisfaction in their educational journey at FHU.
International and Dual Enrollment Growth
One area that deserves special mention is the doubling of international undergraduate enrollment, which now features 61 students from an extraordinary 29 different countries. This increase highlights FHU's growing global appeal and its role in providing a diverse learning environment that enhances the educational experience of all students.
In addition to international enrollment, high school students participating in FHU’s dual enrollment program have reached a record number of 667. Launched in 2014, this program offers qualified high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take FHU courses while still in high school, effectively giving them a head start on their post-secondary education. Currently, FHU collaborates with 19 high school institutions across five states to facilitate this initiative.
Leadership's Vision
FHU President David Shannon expressed immense gratitude for the blessings contributing to these achievements and emphasized the hard work of academic teams fostering an enriching educational environment. “Our record enrollment and retention rates underscore the profound impact of our faculty and staff and the dynamic environment we've cultivated for our students. This success truly propels our vision for the future,” he noted. This steadfast commitment to excellence significantly shapes the university's mission.
