Understanding Menopause: Insights from FANCL's Seminar
FANCL held an enlightening seminar titled "Empowering Women Through Menopause" on June 14, 2025, at Takashimaya Rose Hall in Yokohama City. Despite inclement weather, the event attracted a vibrant crowd, with 63 selected participants out of over 320 applicants.
The seminar commenced with an introduction to FANCL’s ongoing initiative, "FANCL MENOPAUSEACTION," which began in October last year, focusing on health challenges unique to women during menopause. Following remarks from Mr. Okubo of the Kanagawa Policy Bureau, Dr. Miho Takao took the stage to discuss vital aspects of living healthily through menopause.
Dr. Takao began her lecture by distinguishing between social and biological differences between genders, emphasizing the need for mutual understanding of these disparities. She pointed out that while some distinctions can be addressed, others, specifically those defined biologically, require deeper societal insight. She highlighted that empowering working women is an integral part of addressing gender disparities, urging attendees to tackle these societal challenges head-on.
In her session, Dr. Takao further explored the medical perspective on how women's bodies change through different life cycles, particularly focusing on menopause. She provided a detailed overview of common symptoms, effective management strategies, and self-care methods essential for navigating this often-challenging phase of life.
The importance of addressing menopause as a collective societal issue was underscored, especially in light of Japan’s declining population and the increasing number of women in the workforce. Dr. Takao asserted that promoting awareness and understanding of menopause is vital to creating a supportive environment for women facing this transition.
As the session concluded, Dr. Takao offered encouragement to participants, urging them to stay positive and proactive in their approach to managing menopause. She emphasized the importance of making small changes, maintaining a cheerful outlook, and taking initiative in self-care. The Q&A session that followed showcased the participants' enthusiasm, with Dr. Takao thoughtfully addressing numerous queries, leaving the audience with a renewed sense of hope and empowerment.
For those interested in experiencing the insights shared during the seminar, a limited-time archive is available for viewing from June 27 to July 31, 2025.
