Slovakia has made headlines as the very first nation to officially announce its participation in the upcoming Expo 2027, set to take place in Belgrade, Serbia. On November 19, 2025, during a ceremonial signing event in Belgrade, both Matej Fekete, the Director General of Slovakia Travel, and Lukáš Parízek, the Commissioner General for the Expo, formally confirmed Slovakia's participation. The official contract was signed in the presence of Serbian officials, including Jagoda Lazarević, Serbia's Minister of Trade, and Danilo Jerinić, the CEO of Expo 2027. Lukáš Parízek expressed pride in Slovakia’s pioneering role, stating, "I am proud that we are the first country to officially sign the participation agreement for Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
