Okayama University's O-NECUS Program Autumn Seminar 2026

On November 7, 2025, Okayama University, located in Okayama City and led by President Yasuyuki Nasu, successfully hosted the O-NECUS Program 2026 Autumn Seminar via an online platform, Zoom. This initiative is aimed at recruiting excellent students and fostering academic collaboration. The seminar was held in collaboration with four partner institutions from Northeast China: Harbin Medical University, Jilin University, China Medical University, and Dalian Medical University. A total of 36 students and 12 representatives participated from these institutions.

Each year, the Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Okayama University brings in numerous short-term international students from these Northeast Chinese universities through the O-NECUS Program, paving the way for their advancement to the doctoral program at Okayama University after completing their studies, referred to as Post O-NECUS.

The seminar featured presentations from faculty members and current students who have previously participated in the O-NECUS Program. They provided updates and shared their experiences, showcasing the benefits of the program. The event was moderated by Dr. Wan Denri, a junior assistant professor from Jilin University and a Post O-NECUS alumnus.

The seminar kicked off with a promotional video highlighting the O-NECUS Program, followed by a detailed introduction from Professor Toshitaka Ohashi, the head of the Master’s Program at the Graduate School. Throughout the event, various students presented their research areas: first-year doctoral students spoke about biochemistry, while fourth-year students discussed topics in pathogenic virology, oral pathology, and oral morphology. Each presentation illustrated both their academic paths and experiences living in Okayama.

An interactive Q&A session followed where participants asked questions regarding language proficiency, scholarship opportunities, and pathways to regular admission programs. This lively exchange underscored the strong interest and engagement of both current and prospective students in the academic offerings of Okayama University.

As a leading research university, Okayama University continues to foster strong ties with its regional communities and is committed to international collaboration. The university also places a strong emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), having received special recognition from the Japan SDGs Awards as part of its commitment to sustainable development.

Stay tuned for more updates and initiatives from Okayama University, as it continues to strengthen its global outreach and contribute to innovative research and education in the medical and dental fields.
