Collins Aerospace Extends Partnership With Heathrow AOC To Enhance Passenger Experience
Collins Aerospace and Heathrow AOC Renew Partnership
In a strategic move to enhance passenger experience, Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, has secured a six-year contract renewal with the Heathrow Airline Operators' Committee (AOC). This agreement ensures the continuation of the ARINC cMUSE solution across all four terminals of London Heathrow Airport.
Enhancing Airport Operations
The ARINC cMUSE, or common-use multi-user system environment, is a cutting-edge passenger processing system that streamlines airport operations. More than 80 airlines operating at Heathrow can dynamically share resources rather than depending solely on dedicated infrastructure. This system facilitates efficient resource allocation for check-in desks and boarding gates based on actual demand, which better utilizes space and reduces operational costs.
Nicole White, Vice President and General Manager of Connected Aviation at Collins Aerospace, highlighted the successful 25-year relationship with Heathrow AOC, which has allowed both entities to provide effective solutions tailored to passenger management. This partnership aims to maintain reliability and support while continuously seeking ways to enhance the travel experience.
Record-High Passenger Traffic
Heathrow, one of the world's busiest airports, recorded 83.9 million passengers in 2024 alone. To accommodate this growth, the facility's infrastructure requires significant upgrades, which the partnership with Collins Aerospace seeks to address. Nigel Wicking, the Chief Executive of the Heathrow AOC, stated the necessity for leveraging advanced technologies to ensure smooth operations and efficiently cater to an increasing number of travelers.
Future Innovations
Collins Aerospace first implemented the MUSE solution at Heathrow back in 1999, and its functionalities have expanded over the years. Under the new agreement, both Collins and Heathrow AOC will explore further innovations, including cloud technologies and mobile solutions. These will not only enhance operational efficiencies but also support Heathrow in managing future growth prospects.
The ARINC cMUSE solution is versatile, capable of being deployed in a cloud, on-site, or as a hybrid model. It is designed to complement all common-use terminal equipment and CUPPS, making it adaptable to technological advancements. The software allows for easy scaling, meaning more workstations can be added as needed without hassle. The Managed Services option from Collins can also help minimize support costs while maximizing operational efficiency.
