Discover the Color Expression Exhibition at YUGEN Gallery
Currently, YUGEN Gallery in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, is hosting a special group exhibition titled
Color Expression from
April 11 to April 21, 2025. This exhibition marks a milestone: the first anniversary of the gallery's relocation to Minami-Aoyama. The curator, Hirotaka Noma, who was behind the gallery's inaugural show, has gathered five emerging artists whose works explore the rich possibilities of color through their unique perspectives and diverse techniques.
The featured artists include
SOMETA, Jun Suzuki, Yui Komatsumoto, Kohei Arano, and
Taro Yakumo. Together, they challenge the theme of color from various angles, addressing Japanese traditional aesthetics and spontaneous abstract expressions, creating pieces that resonate deeply with audiences.
This exhibition isn't just a display but an experience that transcends mere visuals, providing a heartfelt connection to the art. Visitors are granted a memorable keepsake: an original badge inspired by the main visual work of the artists. To obtain this badge, guests simply need to participate in a visitor survey during their time at the gallery. This badge is designed to embody the lingering emotions and sentiments evoked by the artworks, serving as a tangible reminder of the intersection between art and daily life.
During the exhibition, guests can also view and purchase the artworks via the gallery's official online store. Here are the links to each artist's page:
About the Artists

Born and based in Tokyo, Kohei incorporates influences from street culture and film into their art. Known for creating authentic images rooted in daily life, their work merges traditional Japanese painting with modern urban themes, frequently garnering awards for their innovative approach.
Jun Suzuki
A contemporary artist from Miyagi Prefecture, Jun's vibrant line art reflects themes of love, life, and death. Influenced by their ceramicist father, they aim to create deep emotional connections through their positive message within their works.
Taro Yakumo
Raised in an artistic environment, Taro has become known for a unique blend of playful colors and traditional elements. Since the early 2000s, they have been exploring modern artistic expressions, seeing art as a form of entertainment and aiming to represent nostalgic elements through a captivating duality.
