Annual Infection Prevention Poster Contest in Tokyo



The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced an exciting opportunity for elementary school students to participate in the annual infection prevention poster contest for the fiscal year 2023. This initiative is designed to encourage children to understand the importance of infection control and share their learned experiences and actions on this critical topic.

Contest Theme


The theme for this year's contest is "Infection Prevention You Can Do by Yourself." Participants are encouraged to create posters that reflect their personal experiences and actions regarding infection prevention, possibly in collaboration with their parents or close adults. Examples of what students might illustrate include:
  • - Precautions they take for themselves and loved ones.
  • - Creative methods they use to prevent the spread of infections.

Eligibility Criteria


The contest has two categories based on grade levels:
  • - Lower Grade Division: Open to first to third graders from municipal or private elementary schools and special support schools in Tokyo.
  • - Upper Grade Division: Open to fourth to sixth graders from the same educational institutions.
Note: Entries from other grades will not be considered for evaluation.

Submission Details


Participants must use a specific format for their artwork:
  • - Poster Size: Shikishi (approximately 39 cm x 54 cm), to be oriented vertically.
  • - Any coloring materials are allowed, providing students with the freedom to express their creativity.
Note: Posters submitted horizontally will not be accepted.

Contest Timeline

Selection Process


Each category will select one best entry and up to five excellent entries. The awards ceremony is scheduled for late January 2024 during the iCDC Forum.
