IoT Agriculture Revolution in Hachimantai City
Hachimantai City, located in the Iwate Prefecture, is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative aimed at revitalizing its agricultural sector. This endeavor, spearheaded by MOVIMAS, a Tokyo-based company specializing in IoT cloud control systems, aims to infuse technology into traditional farming methods. With this collaboration, the region is set to create a sustainable and innovative agriculture model that maximizes local resources.
On September 19, a press conference was held to announce the signing of a business location agreement. At this event, representatives from both Hachimantai City and MOVIMAS unveiled their plans to convert 2 hectares of underutilized geothermal hot water greenhouses into a state-of-the-art IoT agricultural facility. This facility aims to facilitate modern farming practices while showcasing the importance of sustainability and technological advancement in agriculture.
The Heart of the Project: Tohoku Future Strategy Group
To support this ambitious project, the Tohoku Future Strategy Group was established. The group brings together key players, including MOVIMAS and Shinseiwa Innovation, a company renowned for its extensive expertise in online shopping and logistics processing. Their shared vision revolves around maximizing regional resources and creating sustainable industrial models. By harnessing geothermal energy for agricultural practices, they plan to create high-value products, improve logistics efficiency, and generate local employment opportunities.
The Tohoku Future Strategy Group aims to recruit individuals from urban areas, fostering new agricultural talent that can thrive in Hachimantai's enriched environment. They also envision developing facilities not only for agriculture but also for processing and logistics, thus creating a comprehensive ecosystem that nurtures growth while embracing modern technology.
