Commonwealth Fusion Systems Teams Up with Siemens and Nvidia for Digital Twin to Transform Fusion Energy Development

In a recent announcement, CFS explained how this innovative initiative will harness a vast amount of data generated by the Siemens Xcelerator suite of industrial software. This portfolio includes cutting-edge tools such as the Designcenter NX, which aids in advanced product engineering, and Teamcenter for product lifecycle management (PLM). Through the integration of these technologies, CFS will efficiently create, organize, and manage designs and assemblies necessary for the SPARC fusion machine.

The digital twin will not only serve as a virtual replica of the SPARC machine but will also enable CFS to run simulations, test hypotheses, and conduct rapid comparisons between experimental outcomes and theoretical models. "By connecting all our data with Nvidia's Omniverse libraries and OpenUSD, we can provide a user-friendly interface for extensive modeling and simulation workflows," noted Bob Mumgaard, Co-Founder and CEO of CFS.
