Envision Unveils the Galaxy Campus: A Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Model
Envision, a global leader in green technology, has officially launched the Envision Galaxy Campus in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, marking a significant advancement in the development of next-generation AI infrastructures. Designed to enhance the deployment of large-scale artificial intelligence, this campus is environmentally friendly, operating directly on renewable energy sources with the capability to exceed 2 gigawatts (GW).
At the heart of the Galaxy Campus is an AI supercomputing center covering an impressive area of 120,000 square meters, equivalent to around 20 football fields. This facility promises to deliver an industry-leading token production capacity through its unique design that integrates renewable energy supply with an AI power system developed by Envision.
When fully operational, the supercomputing center is projected to achieve a computing capacity of one million PFLOPS (Peta Floating Point Operations Per Second), managing up to one million AI accelerators, thus setting a new standard for computational density in AI infrastructures. As explained by Ricky Zheng, General Manager of Envision's AI Data Center (AIDC), powering such a vast number of accelerators demands a specialized AI power system that incorporates renewable energy generation, dedicated transmission infrastructure, and large-scale energy storage to ensure stable and low-cost green energy supply.
Zheng states, "This allows this facility to provide ten times the computational power per square meter compared to traditional data centers." Beyond sheer power, the Envision Galaxy Campus addresses critical requirements for high-scale, low-latency connectivity. Ulanqab's strategic position as a major digital infrastructure hub provides the network performance necessary for AI clusters, which may include hundreds of thousands of accelerators.
The region’s rich wind and solar resources serve as an added advantage, and by combining dedicated renewable energy assets, optimized energy transport infrastructures, and AI management systems, Envision has established an innovative gigawatt-scale AI infrastructure model powered by green electricity. Zheng emphasizes, “The future of AI lies in its infrastructure.” As AI models continue to expand and demand more computational resources, the limitations increasingly become the availability of electricity, network performance, and energy efficiency.
The Galaxy Campus is integrated into Envision's global initiative, 'Mission Gobi,' which was presented at the VivaTech conference in Paris in June 2026. This ambitious initiative aims to establish a green AI computing capacity of 5 GW across arid and desert regions around the world by the year 2030. The launch of the Galaxy Campus doesn’t simply represent a new facility but rather signifies a transformative approach to sustainability in technological infrastructure, enabling hyperscalers, tech companies, and AI innovators to develop and scale the next generation of AI workloads within an eco-friendly framework.
